There are numerous routes of administration available. The route of administration used will depend on both physician recommendations and licensed producer availability.
Dried Herbal Cannabis
Typically dried marijuana is consumed orally or inhaled. Smoking is not recommended. Some individuals use their dried marijuana with a vaporizer or in teas.
Some licensed producers can provide patients with cannabis oil extracts. These products are usually taken sublingually (under the tongue) or mixed with food. Cannabis oils provided by your licensed producer can not be vaporized. Oil typically comes in three forms, CBD dominant, Mixed and THC dominant.
Cannabis capsules may be available to patients depending on the licensed producer they are registered with. The potency of these products can vary significantly.
Please note that licensed producers can only provide dried marijuana, cannabis oil or oil based cannabis capsules. Other forms of marijuana, such as edibles or tinctures, are not permitted to be sold by licensed producers under the ACMPR.← What routes of administration will be recommended for my patients?
